FOTD -- January 17, 2012 (Rating 8) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image is found in the same oversized Mandelbrot set as yesterday's. But instead of lying just west of the main-spike minibrot, it lies in the minibrot's East Valley. The image does not show the bottomless pit of a minibrot, though it is filled with minibrots. It shows what I call an 'antiminibrot'. In this case a decorated shield-shaped dimple rising up toward the surface, with its high point near the center of the shield. I named the image "Scene Near a Peak" when I noticed the wrong way the colors flow when the image is in coloring mode. I rated the image at an 8, which means I consider it significantly above average, even if it does appear a bit too feminine for the macho fractal tastes that are so trendy in today's high-speed modern world. The calculation time of a fireball 40 seconds will come as a blessing to those caught up in the rat race.
