I've just noticed that Hal Lane uses "Fractint for Windows beta 5" to publish Jim Muth's FOTD. Does this program run under Windows 7? Can the size of the control window be changed or set to full screen mode? Brian Prentice

Yes, it can be changed and disk video is supported for very large renderings. -- "The Direct3D Graphics Pipeline" -- DirectX 9 draft available for download <http://legalizeadulthood.wordpress.com/the-direct3d-graphics-pipeline/> Legalize Adulthood! <http://legalizeadulthood.wordpress.com>
Richard, Thanks for answering my questions. I downloaded "Fractint for Windows beta 5" from here: http://www.nahee.com/Software/Fractint_Setup_21-00_beta-5.msi and installed it on a computer running Windows XP. I am unable to change the size of the control window. If this is possible, please tell me how. I also tried to render some of Jim Muth's recent parameter files and found that none of the ones using the MandelbrotBC3 formula rendered correctly. Hal Lane does not seem to have this problem! The window size is changed the same way you change video modes in fractint, with DEL. The maximum size of onscreen window you can select is limited by the size of your desktop. Disk video has no size limitations. As far as formulas go, there are definately some formulas that render incorrectly. However, these seem to render incorrectly consistently from machine to machine. Since everythign is rendered in software and not really using any hardware specific stuff, this is expected. -- "The Direct3D Graphics Pipeline" -- DirectX 9 draft available for download <http://legalizeadulthood.wordpress.com/the-direct3d-graphics-pipeline/> Legalize Adulthood! <http://legalizeadulthood.wordpress.com>
