Hi, I've just started to use Fractint and I don't know how to create a new fractal starting from scratch. My understanding is that I should create a file.par and a file.frm (the second with wordperfect) which contain the code, am I right? Furthermore, how do I generate a par file? Thanks in advance. Alex

A few items you might wish to know and start off with: 1. Run the following from your Command Line: FractInt.exe makedoc This will produce a full document (over 200 pages) with much detail about the program. 2. Download the following to have a fairly complete collection of .FRM (formula) files for use within FractInt: http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/OrgForm.html 3. Establish your own SSTOOLS.INI file that allows you to tailor the execution and location of things related to FractInt. (An example file may be found at the following: http://www.nahee.com/Fractals/FractInt/sstools.ini 4. Learn what some of the basic Keyboard commands will do: <ESC> Exit or Main Menu <b> Save Parameters to a .PAR file <t> Choose a formula from those within FractInt etc....

Both of these file extensions (.PAR and .FRM) are simple text files and can be editted with any text editor. I personally use Notepad for most of mine, and occasionally WordPad. There are hundreds of parameter file (.PAR) collections available around the Internet for downloading, so that you may see what they produce and how they work. For example: http://www.les.stclair.btinternet.co.uk/fractals/pars.htm
Furthermore, how do I generate a par file?
Once you have an image that you wish to save the parameters for, just use the "b" character on your keyboard. Sincerely, P.N.L. ------------------------------------------------- http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/PNL_Fractals.html http://www.Nahee.com/Fractals/
