. Fractint worked on my Alienware with WinXP Media from day one, and rather well at that. This always intrigued me since DOS and NTFS don't see each other. I still have no explanation but what the hey - it's cool! As for USB, the only thing reliable about it (at least in my experience) is that on all my systems with multiple USB ports, most of them stop working after a few months and I don't know why. I have to install PCI cards with USB jacks to get USB functionality. No big deal, but I shouldn't have to do that! .

The 3 USB ports on my 6-year-old low-end Toshiba laptop have been working fine the whole time. I have my laptop's old 60GB PATA drive in a NexTech NX2 external drive housing and it works fine with no problems.
