Re: [Fractint] spiderweb
. hey Mike, you sure you got the right map? I am trying to get that awesome color on this page: http://www.fracton.org/fmlposts/spidrweb.html and it ain't happening. The colors look washed out red - not the same at all. I tried using the colors in the palette PAR file, also downloaded the chakotay map from PNL collection - same thing. Whats up? .

I found the originally used .GIF file that was once on the old Spanky web site, which now may be found here: http://www.nahee.com/spanky/www/fractint/dz.html I then loaded that image into FractInt to acquire and save the parameter information that was made available. But I did not turn around and try those same values to see what would be generated (assumed they were correct). If the .GIF file is incorrect, or if something between FractInt version releases has caused differences since the saved image and now, then that may be the reason for colors not being similar. Speaking of Mandelbrots in the middle of spider webs, I love this one just posted by Brian Prentice: http://linuxenvy.com/bprentice/Fractals/Set%2015/BP_15_38b.png Lee

Nice find !!! :-) Brian has been creating interesting variations of Jim Muth's FOTDs for quite some time now: http://linuxenvy.com/bprentice/Fractals/ I just wish there was an easier way to view them online, such as the typical thumbnail image linking to the larger version. The original spidrweb par is correct and generates the posted image at the top of the page. The image that JackofTradeZ is mentioning is further down the webpage. Before I got the original color map from Paul I tried several color maps and found one combination I liked. The image is posted on the webpage. I forgot to mention that I changed the color mapping from the original LOGMAP to LINEAR mapping. The Chakotay color map listed is correct. I corrected the webpage. Thanks JackofTradeZ for pointing it out. Brian Prentice's Mandelbrot in a spider web is very cool as well. Thanks for posting it. -- Mike Frazier www.fracton.org
