FOTD -- September 13, 2004 (Rating 7) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Things are still hopping here at F.C., so once again the discus- sion will be short. Today's image lies in the parent fractal that results when some Z^(-2) is subtracted from some just plain Z and (1/C) is added. This parent appears as a vague Mandeloid rotated -120 degrees. Its most identifiable feature is its East Valley, which in this case lies on the NNW border of the main bay, a feature that could more accurately be called the ocean, for there is little resemblance to a bay. I named the image "Erin Land". For some reason, most likely its overall green color theme, the image reminds me of Ireland. For variety, I used the outside=atan option in rendering the scene. It gives a livelier appearance than the basic and overworked outside=iter option. The colors are rather brilliant, a fact that I noticed when I gave the scene its rating of a liberal 7. Unfortunately, the slow render time of almost 52 minutes permits an overall value of only 13. Today is progres- sing near perfectly also, so I expect more happiness from the cat quarter. For me, I think I see light at the end of the work backlog tunnel, but there is still a way to go.
