############################################################### This zoom of Jim's FoTD for Jul 09, 2005, "A Purrfect Fractal," changes the color balance of the overall image, shows a larger Mandelbrot midget and reveals interesting details which were too small to see in the original fractal. Although not really an exceptional fractal, I think it is a pleasant fractal. It seems that I just always want to see the details around that midget just a little bit more clearly, so I am compelled to zoom in... Unfortunately, this fractal takes a while to calculate -- an hour and a half on my P400. Perhaps you could calculate it as a background fractal as I did using Fractint's "Disk / RAM 'Video'" feature (in the video mode selection choices). -------------------------------------------------------------- FRACTINT.CFG Incidentally, I found that it was easy to add new "Disk / RAM 'Video'" entries to create fractals of X and Y sizes not originally in the list of available sizes. I did this by adding new lines to the video table in the text format video configuration file: FRACTINT.CFG. I just duplicated an existing "Disk / RAM 'Video'" table entry and changed the X and Y values. I used X to Y ratios of 4 to 3, although that is not necessary. Where the new entries are located in the table is not important. Now, when I choose Fractint's video mode using the Del key, my new video modes can be scrolled down to and selected and used without any problems. Don't forget that you still have to save your fractal after it has been calculated using the "Disk / RAM 'Video'" feature...
