FOTD -- November 25, 2011 (Rating 8) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image lies in the same parent fractal as yesterday's, but instead of checking the chaotic arms, I checked a blunt valley of the north shore line of the main bay, where I found today's scene. I named the image "The Old Shell Game". Something in the scene reminded me of the three-shell game used in the movies by con- artists to cheat people out of their money. BTW, I have never seen this particular scam in real life, even at carnivals where one would expect be cheated. In this high technology era, there are far more creative ways to relieve people of their money. I feel the rating of an 8 is justified. This is the first time I have run into such a pattern surrounding a minibrot. The calculation time of 2-1/2 minutes borders on slowness. But the uniqueness of the image makes the result worth the short wait. To view the image without the need to calculate it, check in at the official FOTD web site at: <http://www.crosscanpuzzles.com/Archives.html> A high-definition version plus other goodies may be accessed at: <http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/jim_muths_fotd.html> The original FOTD web site may be found at: <http://www.Nahee.com/FOTD/> Skies filled with only the finest angel-hair cirrus graced the Fractal Central area again today, with an unusually pleasant temperature of 54F 12C. The fractal cats enjoy such conditions, and spent an unusually long time in the sun that comes through the south windows quite strongly at this time of year, when the sun is near its lowest angle. The humans spent most of the day recovering from yesterday's Thanksgiving feast. The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and only a nut would spend as much time searching for fractals as I do. But I can't help it. The silly things just keep turning up.
