Hello to everyone, this is my first post. Has anyone ever tried reproducing the images in Jeff Berkowitz's "Fractal Cosmos" book? Most of them are supposed to be elementary Mandel/Julia-style fractals and he kindly lists the various formulae and parameters for each image shown. Palette differences aside, reproducing similar images in Fractint should be elementary - he provides the formula, the "corners", "maxiter" and "bailout" values (and "c" for the Julia types). But the first 2 I have tried (p3-22 top-left, p2-23 bottom-left) yield images whose apparent structure in no way resembles what he shows in the book. I was trying to reproduce them for technical reasons - I was trying to verify the accuracy of my own Windows-based fractal engine as I had just added the "complex power" opcode to it. Fractint yielded precisely the same image as my own program, so the verification issue is resolved, but I hate loose ends! Cheers Dr Memory __________________________________________________ Yahoo!
