I don't use Windows. My fave fractal generators are still DOS Fractint (works fine under DOSBox (or FreeDOS/OpenDOS under VirtualBox) and the native Linux version of Fractint, Xfractint. Xfractint lacks some of DOS Fractint's features (like color cycling) because it's working through Linux XWindows graphics system instead of directly with the video hardware. There are others for Linux, Kaos comes to mind, but they don't use Fractint files. Since I don't make money from fractals, I'm not spending money to make them. But there are commercial products like Ultrafractal (Windows). I don't know if it can import or work with Fractint formulas. It does support 24-bit color and layering, so its images can make Fractint's look a bit "dated". I've never looked for any Android fractal apps, but I'm sure they exist. Thanks David.
While I'm here, does anyone know of a Windows-native fractal generator that works with Fractint files? Any recommendations for favorite fractal generators? I've been out of the loop (pun intended) for 15 years.

In addition: Under VirtualBox, you can install FreeDOS and get a pure DOS environment without WindowsXP cost/overhead.
My past experiences with the SDL versions are on Linux, not Windows, but it was nice.
