FOTD -- September 29, 2005 (Rating 4) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Things are still a bit too busy here at Fractal Central for maximum FOTD efficiency, but I did manage to scrounge up an image worth being christened FOTD for September 29. To find today's image, I searched the chaos on the northern shoreline of the +36 version of the square-root-of-two Mandeloid, a parent fractal that rather reminds me of an old- fashioned string of sausages. The image features a midget at the center. Well, it could more accurately be described as a hole surrounded by the fractal soil that was dug away to create it. There appears to be no organized pattern at all surrounding the midget, only bits and pieces of rather nasty-looking debris left over from its creation. But all fractals, like all stories, should have a theme. And without a theme, today's image must be rated under average. I gave it a rating of 4, the highest under-average rating I could. Luckily, the image is a fast one, rendering in 2 minutes on my old machine, and in under 1 minute on the newest units. Having too much work kept me unhappy. Today is starting cloudy with rain in the forecast, so I doubt there will be another perfect day for the cats.
