Folks,
Thanks to those of you who are helping figure out the new mailman interface. Please note you don't need to do any of this if you are subscribed, which you must be if you are seeing this, because this is a fractint list message!
Xmission has upgraded their version of mailman. Some things have changed, but as near as I can tell, it works, and xmission did a great job of migrating folks. Let me add that xmission has a very admirable principled stance toward non-profits, and provides mailing lists to a number of folks like us at no cost, so we owe them big time.
Looks like there is a distinction between having a mailman account and being subscribed to a list. When the smoke clears and we understand how things work, I'll consider updating the footer at the bottom of the fractint messages so it is more helpful.
For the moment let's keep things simple and discuss just the fractint list, not fractdev.
If you get lost, you can always start here:
When you get to this page:
https://mailman.xmission.com/accounts/login/?next=/postorius/lists/fractint....
and you can't log in (as Hal Reported), notice at the top:
" If you have not created an account yet, then please sign up <https://mailman.xmission.com/accounts/signup/?next=%2Fpostorius%2Flists%2Ffractint.mailman.xmission.com%2F> first."
The "sign up" link, in case the link above didn't work, is this: https://mailman.xmission.com/accounts/signup/?next=%2Fpostorius%2Flists%2Ffr...
If you click on "sign up" you can create an account if you don't have one, then you can log in. Once again, you don't need an account to be subscribed. Having an account just gives you more options for managing your subscription.
Normally I would consider this sort of administrivia off topic, but since the list is mostly quiet these days, let's say it's fine to discuss this here for, say, no more than a week. If there's more to discuss after that, we can resurrect fractdev and move the discussion there. Meanwhile if anyone has a great fractint fractal to share, post away to relieve list members from this arcane administrative stuff that may not interest some of them!
I Hope everyone is well. I'm fine (albeit hot) here in Texas.
