FOTD -- July 18, 2010 (Rating 6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Yesterday's unusual scene in Seahorse Valley kept me thinking most of the day on Saturday. In yesterday's image the Mandel- brot aspect of the valley is totally invisible. In today's image however it is visible in grossly stretched form as the open strip across the center of the frame. If this open strip is stretched about 57 times in the vertical direction, the valley itself will become visible, cut off on the E-W sides but decorated with all kinds of new and unusual stuff. This can be done in the Z-f6 screen by setting the X-magnification factor to 0.0175. The orientation of the image is rotated one degree from the Oblate and then rotated 45 degrees toward the Julia. All this rotation happens in the 4th dimension, so don't try to make sense of it. The name "Seahorse at Length" refers to the piece of Seahorse Valley stretched across the center of the frame. I rated the image at a 6 because I did too little work on the coloring. The calculation time of 16 seconds is no mistake, so there will be no wasted time if the image proves disappointing. The risk of disappointment may be totally eliminated however by viewing the finished image on the FOTD web site at: <http://www.Nahee.com/FOTD/> A rather hot day prevailed here at Fractal Central on Saturday. At least the fractal cats thought so. They spent most of the day stretched on the cool tile floor. I also thought it was hot, and spent the day within range of the cool air. Everyone I mentioned it to also agreed that the high temperature of 93F 34C was indeed hot. The day was busier than usual for both myself and FL as we wrapped up the leftovers from the big rush job of the past two days. The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and stay decohered.
