FOTD -- May 30, 2009 (Rating 7.5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image is a variation on the theme of Z^(3.5)+C. The parent fractal is a Mandelbrot set with chewed-up buds. Today's scene is found on the western side of the Seahorse Valley of the parent fractal, which is curved in toward the main bay. I named the image "Beyond Redemption" for no particular reason. Then I rated it at a 7-1/2. I really did put some extra effort into the coloring. Most of the effect is a result of rendering the image with the inside set to fmod with a proximity of 0.035. The calculation time of 1-5/6 minutes is well with the realm of reason of even the most devoted rationalists. The trip to the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> to view the finished image there is equally reasonable and a lot more fun. Almost 3 inches (7cm) of rain fell here at Fractal Central on Thursday night, but Friday turned sunny and warm. When the temperature reached 79F 26C, the fractal cats turned quite happy and attacked their catnip toys viciously. My day was normal -- neither good nor bad. The next FOTD will probably but not certainly be posted in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and I saw on one of those pop-science TV shows that we are no more than the string of our memories. Somehow, this still leaves me wondering what we are.
