[Fractint] FOTD 01-01-10 (First of the Second [8])

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

For the first FOTD of the second decade of the 21st Century 
(thus the name) we venture rather deep into the west side of the 
northern branch of Seahorse Valley of an everyday Mandelbrot set 
that has order-9 characteristics in its deeper regions.

Since we are already in the deeper regions, the higher-order 
nature of the minibrot in the image is in full manifestation.  
But things have become rather scrambled around the edges, where 
the quadratic stuff merges with the order-9 stuff in a haphazard 
way.

The rating of an 8 might be a bit exaggerated, but it's been so 
long since the last 8-rated image that I decided to be generous.

The calculation time of 10 minutes is not exaggerated however.

Thursday here at Fractal Central began with light snow.  By the 
time it ended just before noon, 2 inches 5cm had piled up.  The 
rest of the day was cloudy with a few snow flurries and a temper-
ature of 34F +1C, which made clearing the sidewalk almost a 
pleasure.  The fractal cats found the lack of sun anything but 
pleasurable however.  The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours, 
or in the next decade, whichever comes first.  Until then, take 
care, and as I often wonder, is our culture addicted to science?
