One thing the image has going for it is the fact that I know of no other formula that could produce such chaotic chaos. Of course, I say this while having yet to examine the other two Barnsley Mandelbrot formulas, so I cannot state it as a fact.
One or more of them are good for high frequency (detailed) noise, and they were recommended in the documentation somewhere for that reason as a basis for random dot stereograms. I do happen to hav written a formula that is expressly for the purpose of making things that look like a television set to a channel not in use. Prand { ; This pseudo-random number jenerator seems to hav ; a flat distribution, excepting zero. The only ; thing I might add in compiled code is feedback ; from previous pixels, especially ; since this would get different results from different ; rendering methods like diffusion, but the difference ; shouldn't be discernible if the PRNG method is good. z=|scrnpix * flip(scrnmax) / pixel|, z = z*509, temp = z / 257, z = (temp - trunc(temp)) * 257, iter=iter-iter: iter=iter+1 z > iter } Xplode {z=fn1(pixel), c=fn2(pixel), iter=(0,0): ; This formula is in the same prand.par for no good reason, ; except that it revamps some experiments I was doing a long ; time ago. iter=iter+P1 z = z^iter+ c |z| <= |P2| }
Actually, the more I read this magazine, which sometimes seems almost desperate in its denial of the paranormal, the more I become convinced that precognition is not the only paranormal thing that really does exist.
At Rosario's last night, I happened upon a comment to the effect that Ralph Nader didn't need to be Nostradamus to predict that he would not become president. At that same karaoke bar, I happened upon some program called "Abused News". In Edmonton, that's 211 on the phone, which is our distress line for callers who need help, but not from the cops, or the fire department, or the paramedics, at least not yet. You don't need to be Betazoid to _predict_ that 911 operators listen in if they don't offer advice.

I prefer "snuck". I think my preference has to do with the fact that a kay and a dee can't actually be part of the same consonant cluster at the end or the beginning of a syllable. Poets have every right to put an apostrophe in the word to cast it as two syllables, even when such casting actually wrecks the meter of a poem.
