FOTD -- January 03, 2009 (Rating 7) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image is a bit deceiving. The name "Octal Regeneration" implies that the Z^(8.0000001)+C Mandeloid is involved, while actually it's the Z^(10.0000001)+C Mandeloid. Once again the image lies on the infinitely-divided main stem, deep in the East Valley area of the large minibrot. I rated the image at a 7 because I was surprised at what I found in such a high-order fractal. The unexpectedly fast calculation time of 2-1/4 minutes makes the image well worth the effort of running the included parameter file. At this point words become useless, and the image must be seen with one's own eyes. Things looked bleak for the fractal cats, but just after noon the clouds blew off to the east, giving the cats a full afternoon in the sun- shine of the southwest window.
