FOTD -- May 15, 2010 (Rating 7.5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Friday turned unexpectedly busy here at FC, so the day's fractal is a quick one. The parent fractal, which was created with the FinDivBrot-2 formula, consists of a Mandelbrot set surrounded by much extra detail. Today's image is located in some of this extra detail on the positive X-axis. I named the image "Mayan Mystery". Something about it reminds me of the symbolic art of the ancient Mayans of Central America. Since so much of the image's worth is in the coloring, I gave myself a half-point bonus for my color work, bringing the final rating to 7.5. The calculation time of 19 seconds will pass in a flash, or at least as close as is possible to get to a flash. Showers were in the area during the afternoon, though none fell at FC. The fractal cats enjoyed chasing a fly that got inside. One of them, probably the more agile Cassie, must have caught the fly. It disappeared as fast as today's fractal appeared. My day was acceptable. I'll be going back to old FC on Saturday to take care of a few details, so don't be surprised if the FOTD for May 16 is a day late. Until whenever, take care, and be fortunate.
