Actually no damage of any kind for us personally. In my neighborhood it was a matter of where the trees fell - a few folks will have some repairs ranging from minor to major. But as you folks must be only too aware from news coverage, Galveston and many coastal places are all but wiped out. The surging tides do most of the damage in situations like this. In Houston, for the most part, we are just waiting for power to be restored. As of this morning about 75% of the greater Houston area was still without poweI'm writing this from Milby High School where my wife teaches. Power and air are on, and we just feasted from some left overs that would have otherwise spoiled in the freezer. I've got the laptops, cell phones, and mp3 players all charged up. However the school district will not reopen until Monday.
My workplace, the United Space Alliance, did well despite being closer to the coast than we are. I'll be back at work Thursday at the soonest.
Paul commented about Braes Bayou. We are indeed close but quite a bit higher. During Allison the bayou came over McGregor. This time not quite as high, but nowhere near us. Recently the Bayou was widened, which probably saved some friends. The lowest house along the bayou flooded last time but this time the water came right up to their steps.
