FOTD -- November 17, 2013 (Rating A-7,M-6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Good things take time indeed, and today's image takes a full 20 minutes to finish calculating. I leave it to the individual viewer to decide whether the image is good enough to warrant the 20-minute running time. The parent fractal is a strange one indeed, which comes about when (Z) is subtracted from Z^3 on each iteration before (C) is added. The east part of this parent is normal enough, but it has problems when we look as far west as Seahorse Valley. Instead of having two branches, in today's parent the valley has four branches, coming from the NW, NE, SE and SW. Today's scene lies rather deep in the NW valley. The ratings of 7 and 6 are close to normal, and in my opinion not quite worth the excessive calculation time. But hope springs eternal in the form of the FOTD web sites.
