FOTD -- September 01, 2009 (Rating 6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Check the philofractal version for a much longer discussion. Perhaps today's image should have been named "High Contrast" rather than "High Energy", but a name is a name, and that's what I named it. The parent fractal was created by combining various negative portions of Z^(-1.1) with Z^(-6.6) then adding (1/C). As expected, this parent is a grossly oversized thing with a fan, several large bays, and lots of fancy rings in the suburbs. Today's image lies in one of these suburban rings. To get the high-contrast effect I ran the image through a graphics program and increased the contrast almost to the limit. A few minor tweaks gave the final result, which despite the color work, still rates only a 6. The calculation time of 2-3/4 minutes will pass like a cruise ship. Why not avoid the voyage by viewing the image on the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> Unusually chilly weather prevailed here at Fractal Central on Monday, with enough clouds to keep the day from being sunny and a temperature of 70F 21C. The fractal cats ignored the weather, choosing to get into trouble instead. My day was active enough. The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours, give or take a few. Until then, take care, and fractals can be hauntingly beautiful.
