I say to limit Fractint to DOS is ridiculous.
We all agree about the program's limitations. The problem lies in finding someone able and with the time to do the upgrading job. As an old-time user, I am not bothered by the DOS platform, nor would I resist a Fractint upgrade to a state-of-the-art OS. I enjoy the DOS speed, as well as the full-screen when searching for fractals. I can endure the limitations imposed by DOS, perhaps the greatest of which is the inability to apply arbitrary precision math to type=formula fractals. But if a native XP version of Fractint were released which bypassed this limitation, as well as the video-mode problems, I would likely switch to it. Does anyone volunteer to do the job? Jim M.
