I know I've seen this, although it doesn't happen on my current machine. What I usually end up doing is creating a shortcut to the executable. The shortcut properties let you adjust the environment space. This is useful also because it allows you to set a low idle sensitivity so that Fractint doesn't slow down after a couple of seconds.
