BTW if anyone does a 1280x1024 of this e-mail me, I'd like a copy. (...) Try the helpfiles on making a floppy boot-disk.
I really hav no clue why M$ figures people wouldn't want to be able to do that with their hard-drive (or why they stopped supporting an exit to DOS--maybe I can blame criticism from Dr. Dobb's Journal), but you _can_ boot the machine to DOS without a bootloader if you want more flexibility with your rendering options. Floppies are slow boot devices, but they work. Buy the Weigh, legend has it that you can boot an XBOX with Knoppix (a UNIX version that was not designed to install on a hard-drive, making it cyber-cafe friendly) on a CD-ROM. At 64meg, and NTSC, it would make a pretty piss-poor comparison with today's $200 refurbished machine, but it still sounds like fun. _______ BrewJay's Babble Bin
