Albrecht, I really liked your fractal 41000-01.GIF a lot! The deep red and subtle slate blue colors immediately reminded me of old hand-painted Chinese screens and pictures. I think that impression was helped by the thin curved arcs that evoked the strokes from a calligraphic brush that's used to draw Chinese characters. The deep red colors are also shaded through a range of very pleasing tones -- but with a twist (see below.) Raymond Filiatreault's FintMap http://www.nahee.com/Software/+FIntMap/ ver 1.4 shows some interesting work was done to create this particular color map: http://tinyurl.com/41000-01-FIntMap-color-map or: http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/Albrecht/MFR12/41000-01_FIntMap.jpg The slate blue is a single color throughout the entire image -- it's in the color "swatch" roughly under the green "4" in the file name in the above screen capture; however, these deep reds have been almost dithered by the fractal itself to give a textured aspect to these areas. The dithering is mostly between two adjacent colors of red in the color map (those colors are under the "10" in the file name.) I really like the effect this creates in the image -- it seems to add age to the "canvas" the work is painted on... Looking at the color swatch at the bottom of the screen capture of FIntMap, I almost expected to see Paul Carlson-like areas with shiny highlights in Albrecht's fractal -- but the patterns of the fractal's areas didn't invoke this. Albrecht's fractal is definitely not a shiny, Carlsonesque "Mind Boggling Fractal". - Hal Lane ######################## # hallane@earthlink.net ######################## --- This email is free from viruses and malware because avast!
