This may be obvious to everyone, but I feel we should be thorough for the gallery. Not all monitors will give you this kindly bit of clue. I haven't seen this behavior on the one I spent days on adjusting. Mine either produced horrid fuzzy or just went black. Eventually I figured out that the thing was for sale used because it only handled half frequency the specs said it could. Juice --have fun --harm none

No, this message is actually coming from your monitor. I get this when trying to run on Windows NT, which fractint is not compatible with. On my system however, if I hit the Del key, fractint returns to text mode and my system comes back to life.
