Spare a thought for those with severe visual impairment. I have to use zoom software to magnify your messages four times before I can read them. Don't want to whine, but ...
Though the most reliable Thunderbird is now at version 2.0.0.23 (Windows/20090812), I believe even one as old as yours has the option of increasing the FONT size to make it easier to read. From the menu, it should be under TOOLS => OPTIONS... then in the DISPLAY section on the FORMATTING tab. I would avoid upgrading to the new 3.0 version of Thunderbird. It takes up more space with all of the extra menu areas that cannot be made to go away. And worst of all, when it converts your existing email to the new format, you will lose a big portion of disk space because of all the extra indexing involved. I have so much email stored up that the conversion actually stopped running before it ever finished.
