Fractint seems to runs fine in DosBox but it is also very slow. I know that you can speed up the CPU cycles in DosBox, so I will have to fool around with that to see if I can speed it up.
Speed up is easily done and dramatic. The more I use Fractint in dosbox the more I like it. You can put the settings you want in dosbox*.conf. Tim

I'd be curious to know what systems folks use to run fractint.
My quick survey, with the caveat that I have not run Fractint much in the last 10 years, so some of you are MUCH more expert ...
1. I can run fractint pretty well in DOSBOX under Windows 7 64 bit. In fact in runs really well, I just noticed that the emulated CPU can be sped up. Mouse works.
2. Runs (barely) in a Win98 VirtualBox virtual machine under Windows 7 64bit. Need to experiment more.
3. Runs really well under Windows 98 on an old machine.
4. Runs in F3 mode under Windows XP, better in DOSBOX.
