I cannot get a high res display on either a laptop or desktop using xp home on both. At least the desktop doesn't have issues preventing switching from the dos window to windows and back though. I would like to see, is a way of working around this, by using fractint to create the images, and another window (image viewer?) to look at them. There would have to be some way to pass info back from the viewer to fractint to allow zooming. It might be possible to view the images as fractint creates them if they are written as they are drawn. I have XP pro on a laptop and XP Home on my current desktop and I've yet to see any difference in perfomance in regards to display. My 'default' display mode is shift/F7 (i.e., 1024x768 with 256 colors); what happens, Marty, when you try that? Russ --

Marty, I'm running Widows XP Home on a Dell laptop (Inspiron 8200) with an Nvidia card. And to my amazement Fractint runs in high resolution mode...I'm no expert but I would bet it could be XP pro - try the home version. Perhaps others have other solutions. Alex
