I really appreciate that you´re trying to help me, so i´ll give you an exact report of what´s happening: my system: win10_64biit, upgraded win7, creator´s edition. 2 editions, 1 cloned as backup. Oracle VirtualXP on both editions. Tried several dosbox versions, also with a config file for SVN Daum mailed by Bill. On ALL versions the same: After starting Fractint a screen: Fractint.cfg missing or wrong..Then the Authors list. When I hit "r" or "2" or any other command asking for a file I get an empty screen just stating "nofiles" as if all folders inside Fractint had been deleted. After manual input of a filename:" ....nofiles is not a file I cant decode°. Even tested Bill´s configfile which s working for him in SVN DAUM but. same result. Even on VirtualXP, after installation of this version I get the same message "nofiles" as descibed The Dosbox file is in "Programfiles", the config in Users \appdata \local \dosbox.The sstools file is inside, with or without path. As apparently nobody else has that problem I suspect an immediate hostile action (by Microsoft?) or malware. Scans (Bitdefender, Malwarebytes, a2emergency kit) show no result. Of course all files/ folders are released to everyone or "Albrecht". On 29.01.2018 02:03, Timothy Wegner wrote:
I have been happily running Fractint under both the standard DOSBox and the SVN Daum version on my Windows 10 (latest version) box. Am also running VirtualBox and have installed my version of XP there (my ancient XP machine died, so the license was freed up). I do miss the VirtualXP that I can still run on my Windows 7 box, but as you said, is unsupported under Windows 10.
By the way, I'd be happy to post my whole DOSBox conf files, but my memory is I didn't change much beyond the fragment I posted earlie
