I tried to run fractint on a "normal" login terminal, but that didn't work. The error that Fractint displays says that this video mode is not supported. Maybe it's just that my card isn't in the list of supported cards.
I ran makefcfg, which gave me a list of 12 video modes, from 320x200 up to 1600x1200. I mapped them to my old default F-keys. I tried a "normal" terminal again, still doesn't work. Doesn't matter, it works OK in X. I changed some entries in dosemu.conf, among others: $_cpu=80586 It seems like it runs faster
fractint xfractint cpu=80586 03:14.05 04:59.34 04:01:57 06:59.34 03:34:70
fractint xfractint 02:07.53 01:46.85 02:02.82 00:01.93 00:00.82
But it might be there were less jobs running. In ther meantime I tested zooming, evolver, stereogram, switching video modes. All OK. And to prove that I can: Here's a par. It's a zoom of Al Niekamp's Mixdown, another color map and cycled a bit :) Mixdown_zoom { ; first exploration in freedos ; ; ; Version 2002 Patchlevel 4 reset=2002 type=formula formulafile=_m.par formulaname=multifractal_1 ismand=n function=exp/sin/exp/cosxx passes=t center-mag=-0.0550492/0.279101/68.41133 params=-0.2724234748374889/0.09260841170049135/384.00001/3072.4505/128.0\ 256000000001/768.0256000000001/256.0256000000001/768.0307200000001/12298\ .7/2.16 float=y maxiter=2048 inside=maxiter outside=tdis logmap=4 periodicity=0 rseed=-2436 colors=000NFM<20>qoosqptsq<3>zzw<25>QJPPHNNFM<2>JAIH8GE7D<3>000<6>336447\ 448<15>GDOGEPHEQ<2>JGTKHUKHT<3>HFPHEOGEN<3>DBICAHBAGB9F<4>87B76A769<3>43\ 5334223222111<3>000000000000<3>D0DG0GK0K<18>fGfgGgiHijIjkJkmKm<16>SASRAR\ Q9QO9ON8NM7MK6K<3>939626313000<2>000<11>HV_IYbJ`e<3>PjqRmtSpwUsz<12>AIK8\ FH7CE<2>234000000<3>000000000<3>808A0AB1B<6>LEK } Good luck, Natalie -- Red Hat Linux 7.1 OOo 1.0.1 NL - OOo 1.0.2 EN aabdeehilptz aegilnt ;) Linux Counter: user 230952
