Dear Jim, I too am saddened by the very minimal spiritual progress (or even regress!) made by our species over the last several hundred years. I'm glad to report that there are some (but not many) who are looking in earnest for a way forward that stands on the best contributions people have made to the enterprises of both science and faith over the span of history. I have found a small pocket of reasonable, open dialogue occurring at <http://asa3.org>asa3 <http://asa3.org>. <http://asa3.org>org <http://asa3.org> (disclaimer: it's a Christian organization, but I don't hold that against them), and I have found good thinking by folks like Polkinghorne, Murphy, and Russell (I'm not saying they're *right*; only that they've done some good thinking, which is more than I'm afraid can be said for most of our species, at least on the subject of the relation of science and faith). As you have hinted at in some of your FOTD's, it seems like fractals may have something to say about spiritual matters. I agree. I'll miss seeing the FOTD quite as often as in the past, but I'm gladdened to hear where your energy will be focused instead -- I wish you well on that journey; may you find the Truth and Meaning your heart desires... and when you do, I hope you'll share it with us. Cheers, Jason N Hine seethefractals.com -- Cheers from Mr. Tumnus!
