I should add that I'm a regular user of Fractint, though I do little more than noodling around. I do generate many of Jim Muth's FOTD and explore around in them. I expect that the Windows version of Fractint would attract more new users and bring back some old ones. Not everyone involved with Fractals is after pretty pictures (where Ultrafractal is a better tool) but many of us enjoy the shapes and weird landscapes in the infinite and infinitely weird world of fractal and Fractint is the best at that. IMO, naturally. Mike paulkyle@ca.rr.com wrote:
I am still using it, but Ultra Fractal and Apophysis are capturing my interest more and more. That makes at least 5 active users <g>.

However, so far I've heard from 4 people. I can't tell how many people are subscribed to this list. The last time I checked there were a little more than 210 on the regular list, and slightly over 50 on the digested version of the list.
So I'll just toss out this additional question: What do you think is the size of the fractint user base today? If you are wondering about "users" that have FractInt loaded on a computer and it functions adequately, then I would say thousands of people. But this is based upon the DOS, UNIX, Windows, etc. versions that are available.
Just in the past 90 days, there have been over 2,010 downloads of the last version you made available:

Is there a particular "magic number" of users you are looking for??
