Yes, Microsoft's Internet Explorer is the culprit (and the target) for many problems. Probably any software built to run like that will do the same. I have my versions of the OPERA browser set to function more like Netscape, which is maybe why mine works fine and John Lewis' will not. I suggest people give FIREFOX a try: http://www.mozilla.org/ I also noticed that my reply still had the SUBJECT line showing the correct character in the spelling of the name, but your reply (using QUALCOMM Windows Eudora Version 6.1.2.0) has altered it to something else. Apparently, the email client you use has similar difficulties. Does it display correctly or incorrectly upon receiving the email?? Or is it the outgoing reply that alters the character??
