I think the obviously unposed nature of this long-withheld photo virtually demands a caption contest. I'll throw in an autographed copy of Mandelbrot's original Fractal book (but who among doesn't have one already?) as a "Grand Prize".

The "Who, me?" pose, coupled w/ the highly suspicious absence of the Dynamic Duo, raises - once again - the issue of true authorship of the FOTD's. Is that a tail I see protruding from behind one of the dividers in the background, conveniently just out-of-focus?????

My cats aren't by nature suspicious, just curious . . . . . the racoons have inquired as well.

Well.... the long awaited image is now available.  I received it about
two hours ago, but only now have it uploaded to the site.

According to Jim:
