The logmap is set to "2". As the zoom progresses
deeper, every pixel cycles thru the 256 color map, and then keeps repeating that
until the zoom ends. That is why it appears to return to original colors. The
map itself has regions of gradual color change as well as sudden ones - so the
rate of fluctuation varies. This is used on quite a number of my zooms - in
fact, it is unavoidable if the logmap is set to "2". Another nice example is the
animation called "descent". Hope this answers your question.
