What we who email/blog/tweet/instagram/facebook anything should be most prepared for is the grand response of ... silence.
I've not listened to Bill's or Albrecht's fractal music yet, but I save the emails with the intention of listening. Similarly for images.

The Creek
:
Imagine...
a clear forest and you´re
dozing at the banks of small
river. Listen to the sound
of the water rippling through the
stones and let yourself get
carried away ...
Images like that I had in mind
creating the Natural Music.
The Forest Lord picture may
help you to tune in.
:
The Fractal is a beautiful
sample of Jim´s Mandel images.
If he is listening maybe he can
find the parameters, it´s an old
one.
:
It strikes me how close the music
is to the basic fractal.
Enjoy the numberless variations
and let yourself get carried away.

"I have another more lively version, maybe later."
This is to inform you that this version now is onlinw.
The main difference is the fractal rhythm which now
has 1/16 Triplet as shifting base

Natural Music - Summer Breeze

Digital Music with a human touch -
Even if you dont like Fractal Music
this one will possibly change your mind
I think. Correct me if Im wrong.
The Natural Music algorithm sticks much
closer to the basic fractal image and
a harmonic beautiful image will generate
a similar listening experience.
With one small adjustment the converting
algorithm is the same as yesterday.
I have another more lively version, maybe later.

The mp3 is 320kb, high quality, dual channel.
For conversion from midi the Weeds GM3 soundfont is
used, which is the best one available.

Albrecht is back but having trouble posting, so I am helping him out.

========================
HI,
Having returned from my 2 months trip I have to face
the fact that in the meantime not a single new fractal
has been presented, so the forum has to be considered
finalized. but on the other hand I managed on earlier
occasions to reanimate the dead man.
:
So let´s give it one more try, I have something to
contribute to lighten the task.
The multifractal project is about finished successfully
and the question is what to do next -
:
It is generally accepted that fractals play an important
part in our universe and the idea that something as complex
as the mandelbrot has not a certain task is out of the
question.
If you look around yourself in a natural surrounding
not killed by human dirt you detect that the components
to a high degree are fractal, the biology and even more
the inanimate parts of nature - water, air, earth, fire
and the like.
:
Of course these components produce sounds - maybe
inspiring or exciting. Listen to wind, raindrops
or sounds of the sea which quite often are used
to enhance or play a part in music.
They may contain melodical or rhythmical elements
which change if you´re listening for some time.
:
I´m trying to produce music consisting
of similar elemnts with no predefined melody
or rhythm which nevertheless urges you to listen,
detect them and dive into the acoustical experience.
Listening again and again you may detect different
components so you have the feeling that it is not the
same music anymore and want to listen again.
:
Especially produced multifractal images with numerous
different shapes and colors are converted into sound
using the RGB values of single pixels as source.
A square IFS is used for scanning.
An enhanced version of my fractal rhythm supplies
the musical progress. It is a shifting rhythm that
NEVER repeats, so the "melodical" elements also change.
A sophisticated formation makes it possible that
every voice can have any pitch or length.
:
The music is generated by an automatic algorithm
which does not reqire any manual input.
The final result definetely is fractal music:
NATURAL MUSIC
not to be confounded with nature music.
The scale is "E"- Minor Pentatonic, measures 1/1
16 triplets.
The Image is a manowar image produced with the latest
MFR14 patch, both included in the link.

The music is an unedited first version, more advanced music
will follow if there is some feedback

Hi Richard,
> ./xfractint @test1.par/VsionOfaDistantSea
I found how to get this to work without dumping. It is looking for the
formula file where Jim specified his local file. In the DOS verison this
does not cause a problem. But in xfractint it needed to be commented out.
VsionOfaDistantSea { ; time=0:03:15.00 SF5 at 2000MHZ
reset=2004 type=formula ; formulafile=basicer.frm
formulaname=SliceJulibrot5 center-mag=+0.015260972\
...
After running this command for several hours it only produces the top
left portion of the image. Doing several runs, it never gets past this
point. I uploaded the image so it can be seen. This same command works
to produce 4800x3600 when generating Poachers_Afoot which generated in
36 seconds.
./xfractint -disk -geometry 4800x3600 batch=yes savename=work/test.gif

I'm still here, but I have received no e-mails
from the list in a couple weeks. This is a test
to see if the list is still alive and if I'm
