Seem like some American children are born away from chaos, having great result at a really young age.I hope it will last. FOTD -- May 30, 2012 (Rating 7.5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image rates a 7-1/2, including a whopping 1-1/2 point bonus for the coloring. Those who doubt that the colors are 90-percent of the image's worth are invited to try to find better colors using only the random Fractint coloring feature. The parent fractal is a hopeless looking thing that appeared when I combined 10.8 negative parts of (1/Z) with 5.4 parts of Z^(-3). This parent fractal resembles a space capsule lying on its side, filled with a string of flat blobs. A few tiny areas of interest lie along this string however, and today's scene lies in one of these areas. The name "Several Holes in One" has little to do with the image other than the coincidence that the image is filled with holes. The bad news is that the image is a slow one, taking almost 6 minutes to finish on the average machine. Luckily, the web sites can make things easier. FOTD -- June 01, 2012 (Rating 7) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Due to numerous weather-related problems here at FC, the FOTD for June 01 is appearing a day late. After yesterday's (July 31) blockbuster 9.75-rated fractal, we take it easy today with a harmless image that rates an everyday 7. The parent fractal came about when on each iteration I subtracted 2.72 parts of Z^(-2.7) from 8.5 parts of Z^(-1.6) and added (1/C). This parent consists of three large bays lined up along the X-axis, with most of the action in positive territory. Today's image lies in the detail on the northwest shore line of the central and fanciest bay. The skeletal effect was achieved by setting the logmap about 30 points too high. Without this effect, the outer parts of the image consist of irregular shaped disks with which little can be done. Since both exponents of Z are negative, the image will evaporate if the escape radius is set sufficiently large. I doubt that this will produce a better image, but there is no harm in trying it to see what happens. The name "Unchained Numbers" came about when the image gave a fleeting impression of looping chains. The calculation time of 35 seconds is brief enough to present no time problems. This month could be officially call the month of swirl. I had it has reaction almost on a permanent base. Could it be the right time to calculate mandelbrot, i think so. I will be setup soon to design with lab view a new Mandel generator. Swirl reaction may stay on until the product is ready. FOTD 31-05-12 (Fractal in the Sea [9.75])

FOTD -- May 31, 2012 (Rating 9.75) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image rates a 9-3/4, which is one of the highest FOTD ratings of all time. At least 2.75 points are a bonus for the coloring effort. Without the colors the image would have rated no more than an everyday 7. I granted myself the unusually large bonus for the very convincing effect of a fractal object floating on the surface of a serene lake. (Actually, the program created the basic palette. I merely tweaked it.) Yes, I know there are formulas that apply this lake effect to fractals, but today's image achieves the watery effect using nothing more than the natural numbers. The scene is appropriate -- Seahorse Valley area of the Z^2+C Julibrot. In today's image the valley is viewed from an angle about halfway between the Oblate and Rectangular directions. The reason for the name "Fractal in the Sea" will become apparent as soon as the <enter> key is struck and the image, which is a very fast one, begins building on the screen. FOTD old-timers with sharp memories may remember a virtually identical image from several years ago. That image was created with a different formula however, and suffers from too much periodicity checking. Today's version retains the old colors but shows the total image with nothing left out. Though the image finishes in a mere one minute, it is still necessary to contend with the nuisance of setting up and running the parameter file. All such nuisances may be escaped however by visiting the FOTD web sites. Since Kodachrome film is now a thing of the past, it might be better to describe the sky as digital blue, but somehow it just doesn't sound the same. One thing that never changes however is the way temperature feels, whether it's measured in Fahrenheit or Celsius, and the high of 79F 26C fell right in the middle of the comfort range. The fractal cats were far too interested in their new cube complex to concern themselves with the outside weather. They enjoyed exploring the cube maze so much that they raised their tails in eager anticipation and dragged the very light cubes out of alignment. Perhaps we humans need to add some weight on the bottoms of the cubes to anchor them in place. But we don't want to make the cube bottoms too lumpy for the cats to curl up and sleep in. FOTD 29-05-12 (Skeletal Remains [7])

FOTD -- May 29, 2012 (Rating 7) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: The name of today's FOTD, "Skeletal Remains", gives the impression of something macabre. But do not be deceived. Today's image pictures nothing offensive. It simply shows a minibrot in the parent fractal that is produced when Z^3 is subtracted from Z^2 and straight C is added. I'll not try to describe this parent, since it is easy enough to reproduce. I'll simply report that today's scene is located in a spurious valley on the west side of the westernmost and least critical looking of the parent's two main bays. Most of the terraced effect was created by rendering the scene with the outside parts set to 'tdis'. The rating of a 7 is right on FOTD average. I would actually prefer that every image be above average, but unlike Lake Wobegon, where every child can be above average, the better the fractals become, the higher the average grows. The image is a rather slow one. Expect around an eight minute delay between striking the <enter> key and seeing the finished image on the screen. FOTD -- May 28, 2012 (Rating 8) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: The most surprising thing about today's image is that its parent fractal does not exist. At least it does not exist when rendered in the normal manner with 'iter' outside and 'numb' inside. It is an 'evaporated' parent, consisting entirely of trapped 'inside' points. A kind of fractal does appear however when the blank screen is rendered with the inside set to an active inside fill. For today's image I chose the 'bof60'. The generating formula is a rather strange one that includes Z^2 divided by Z^(1/Z). The name "The Magic Tower" refers to the chaotic vertical spike in the left half of the image, which for some reason seems hauntingly familiar, a feeling of 'yugen' (check the internet for a definition), if there ever was one. The rating of an 8 is what I myself consider the image to be worth. The actual fractal value might be closer to a 7. One thing that cannot be questioned however is that the image is a fast one. it will finish in about one minute on most SOTA machines. I enjoyed the wind, rain and noise but the fractal cats were uneasy and even FL turned chicken. After giving the garden a generous watering, the storm moved out, leading to a peaceful, relatively cool night. The heat returned today however, when total sun boosted the temperature to a sultry 88F 31C, causing the fractal cats to go into hot weather mode. The humans took things easy, which is the best way to spend a holiday. The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and we're always hearing about enemies of freedom. I do not remember if i made it compatible with Jim system, but i think so, the fractal had been done last night and i sleep thru. 27_05_2012 Lot's of fractal manipulation last two day, suddenly i calculate a personal formula and figured i was into Jim environment, advice to Lloyd this frame will be compatible with your view angle of the number univers. Ok,ok it's not a blaster, i'ts not a super impressive fractal and minibrot still not present but the group of swirl get some reason. Credit also to Mike Frasier to make this possible.
