FOTD -- February 03, 2007 (No Rating) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: If anything, the rush intensified today. Things are actually so busy that I am starting to wonder if the work is worth all the stress and anxiety. Sometimes things get so hectic that I feel like entering the nearest monastery. But I wonder if monks have fractals to remind them of their god. Today's image shows a midget in the fractal that results when various portions of Z^(-1.111) and Z^(-11.11) are combined and (1/C) is added. This parent has a glorious 'fan' -- one of the best I have yet come upon. Today's image is not located in the 'fan' however. It is found at the center of a vague spiral on the southwest edge of the oversized parent fractal. In keeping with the trend of the times, I gave today's image neither name nor rating. But this does not mean I consider the image to be bad. I simply was too rushed to give it much thought. The 31-minute render time is admittedly slow. But all is not lost; a fractal bicarb is available on the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> where the image will soon be posted for immediate enjoyment. Clouds, occasional light snow, and a temperature of 34F 1C made things wet and uncomfortable here at Fractal Central on Friday. The fractal cats did their best to stay comfortable by the radiator. As stated above, my day was very busy, and from the looks of things I may stay busy well into next week. The next FOTD is due in 24 hours. If all goes well, it will be a great one. . Those irritating flash frames in the buddhabrot viddie turned out to be artifacts of my video compiler, not my code and not fractint. The corrected viddie has been re-posted if anyone is interested. BTW, anyone see the sitting Buddha in the GIF ? JoTz .

FOTD -- February 02, 2007 (No Rating) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image shows a midget that exists in the Z^(1.2)+C Mandel- oid as it appears 202 levels up the complex logarithmic ladder. The image comes on strong, but it's really only one more in an endless series of midgets that look like starbursts. Because of its lack of originality, I gave the image neither a name nor a rating. It's still worth a brief look however. The render time of 2-3/4 minutes is true on an ancient P133 machine. It will finish in a minute or less on any SOTA computer worth its name. Those with over-qualified units may view the image on the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> The sky was leaden grey, the temperature was a cold 25F -3C, and the forecast called for snow here at Fractal Central on Thurs- day, but no snow fell. The fractal cats, who have never been out in snow, do not know what they missed. My day was frantic, which is the reason for the hasty FOTD. The next FOTD is due to appear in 24 hours. It actually might appear. Until then, take care, and when the going gets tough, the tough turn to a fractal. FOTD -- February 01, 2007 (No Rating) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: With a big rush on, I will have little time to discuss today's fractal, which exists in the same parent fractal as yesterday's image, and very near the location of yesterday's image. Today's image is 'evaporated', which means it consists solely of 'inside' stuff made visible by the 'bof61' inside fill. I gave the image no name or rating, though it certainly is good enough to earn these things. The render time of just under 15 minutes can be eliminated by visiting the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> and downloading the finished imagefrom there. A sunny but chilly day here at Fractal Central on Wednesday, with a high temperature of 30F -1C, went un-appreciated by the fractal cats, who were satisfied to pass the day in fun and frolic. My day was very busy, but somehow I found time for a trip to Fractal Land. It is very questionable whether I'll have time for fractals every day over the next 10 days or so, but I'll do my best. The next FOTD is due in 24 hours. If it doesn't make it, don't give up hope. The FOTD is in no danger of vanishing.
