City Art is pleased to host Brian Evenson and MollyGaudry on Wednesday, October 9th at 7pm in the 4th floor conferenceroom of the City Library. BRIAN EVENSON is the author of a dozen books offiction, most recently the story collection A Collapse of Horses (Coffee HousePress 2016) and the novella The Warren (Tor.com 2016). He has also recentlypublished Windeye (Coffee House Press 2012) and Immobility (Tor 2012), both ofwhich were finalists for a Shirley Jackson Award. His novel Last Days won theAmerican Library Association's award for Best Horror Novel of 2009. His novelThe Open Curtain (Coffee House Press) was a finalist for an Edgar Award and anInternational Horror Guild Award. Other books include The Wavering Knife (whichwon the IHG Award for best story collection), Dark Property, and Altmann'sTongue. He has translated work by Christian Gailly, Jean Frémon, Claro, JacquesJouet, Eric Chevillard, Antoine Volodine, Manuela Draeger, and David B. He isthe recipient of three O. Henry Prizes as well as an NEA fellowship. His workhas been translated into Czech, French, Italian, Greek, Hungarian, Japanese,Persian, Russia, Spanish, Slovenian, and Turkish. He lives in Los Angeles andteaches in the Critical Studies Program at CalArts. Molly is the founder of Lit Pub and the authorof We Take Me Apart, which was a finalist for the Asian American Literary Awardfor Poetry and shortlisted for the PEN/Osterweil. The verse novel has beentaught at Brown, Wesleyan, Cornell College, Queens College, CUNY, and othercreative writing programs in the US. As of Halloween 2018, its sequel Desire: AHaunting is also available. Molly is a PhD candidate and Steffensen Cannonfellow at the University of Utah. Summers, she teaches at the Yale Writers'Workshop. This event is made possible by City Art ReadingSeries and Utah Humanities. Most featured readingsare followed by an open reading.
