For Immediate Release Contact: City Art Director Joel Long: joeltlong@yahoo.com City Art Presents Matthew Ivan Bennett and his play Different=Amazing Salt Lake Public Library Main Branch 210 East 400 South Salt Lake City UT 84111 Wednesday March 12th 7:00—9:00 P.M.               Playwright Matthew Ivan Bennett will present the play Different=Amazing on March 12th at the Salt Lake City Public Library at 7:00 P.M. as part of the City Art Reading Series.  Matthew Ivan Bennett is a resident playwright of Plan-B Theatre Company, with whom he's premiered several plays, including Eric(a), which won Best Drama at the United Solo Theatre Festival (New York), and Mesa Verde, which was nominated for a Steinberg award. His radio plays have been broadcast nationally through KUER, and his adaptation of Frankenstein received Best Feature Program from the Utah Broadcasters Association. His short works have been at Salt Lake's Wasatch Theatre, in Chicago's Circle Theatre, Hunger Artists Theatre Ensemble in Fullerton (LA), at Rising Sun Performance Company in New York, at Monkeyman Productions in Toronto, and at the Source Festival in DC. He’s written an anti-bullying play for children, Different=Amazing, which toured to Utah schools, and has had poetry published in Western Humanities Review and Sugar House Review. Matt earned a Bachelors' of Theatre Arts at Southern Utah University and is a member of the Dramatists’ Guild.   DIFFERENT=AMAZING is a new, 40-minute play drawn from real-life bullying experiences of elementary students, including current Salt Lake and Davis County students.  The goal is to provide students with the tools to identify, address and hopefully prevent bullying in their own schools. Inspired by the 2010 event of the same name. Featuring Tyson Baker and Latoya Rhodes.  Directed by Jerry Rapier.  Special thanks to Jim Martin and Denice Maedgen.   Most featured readings are followed by an open reading.
