Poet Lara Candland and fictionwriter Michael Gills will read from her work on Wednesday, March 8th at theSalt Lake City Public Library at 7:00 P.M. as part of the City Art ReadingSeries. Michael Gills is author of three collections of shortfiction, including The House Across From the Deaf School (Texas Review Press,fall 2016), two novels, including Emergency Instructions (Raw Dog ScreamingPress 2017), and White Indians, a visionary memoir, part two of which isforthcoming. He is Associate Professor/Lecturer of Writing for the HonorsCollege at the University of Utah. Gills’ collected papers are archivedat Martha Blakeney Hodges Special Collections and University Archives,The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Lara Candland is the author of the poetry collectionsAlburnum of the Green and Living Tree (BlazeVox 2010) and the forthcoming TheLapidary's Nosegay (The Center for Literary Publishing at Colorado StateUniversity, January 2018). Candland is also an award-winning playwright andlibrettist whose work appears on many recordings and CD's with the SeattleExperimental Opera and the duo Lalage. Most featuredreadings are followed by an open reading.
