Mark Wagenaar and Rob Carney Reading Salt Lake Public Library Main Branch 210 East 400 South Salt Lake City UT 84111 Wednesday March 9th 7:00—9:00 P.M. Poets Mark Wagenaar and Rob Carney will read from their works at the Salt Lake Public Library Main Branch on Wednesday March 9th at 7:00 as part of the City Art Reading Series. Mark Wagenaar is the 2011 winner of the Felix Pollak Prize, for his manuscript ‘Voodoo Inverso.’ He graduated from the University of Virginia’s MFA program—where he won an Academy of American Poets Prize—and is a recent transplant to Salt Lake City, where he's just begun a Ph.d in poetry at the University of Utah. He has two chapbooks forthcoming from Finishing Line Press & Pudding House. He is a winner of the Yellowwood Poetry Prize, & his poems appear widely, including most recently in Subtropics, the SouthernReview, the New England Review,/nor, theAntioch Review, 32 Poems, theNorth American Review, theAmerican Literary Review, Crab Orchard Review, Tar River Poetry, & Poetry East. Rob Carneyis the author of two books—Weather Report (Somondoco P, 2006) and Boasts, Toasts, and Ghosts (Pinyon P, 2003), both winners of the Utah Book Award for Poetry—and two chapbooks: New Fables, Old Songs (Dream Horse P, 2003) and This Is One Sexy Planet (Frank Cat P, 2005). His writing has appeared in dozens of journals, such as The National Poetry Review and Quarterly West and in the anthology Flash Fiction Forward (W.W. Norton, 2006). His reading and interview for NPR’s “The Poet and the Poem from the Library of Congress” is available online. He is a professor of English at Utah Valley University and lives in Salt Lake City. The event is free and open to the public. City Art is sponsored by the Utah Arts Council, the Salt Lake City Arts Council, Zoo, Arts, and Parks, X-Mission, and audience donations.
