Writers Lance Larsen and Melanie Rae Thon will read their work, April 5th at the Salt Lake City Public Library at 6:30 P.M. as part of the City Art Reading Series.
Lance Larsen has published five poetry collections, most recently What the Body Knows. His awards include a Pushcart Prize, the Tampa Review Prize, and a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. He also writes fiction, with recent stories in Boulevard, Michigan Quarterly Review, and the Sun. His essays have made the Notables List six times in Best American Essays. He teaches at BYU and fools around with aphorisms: “A woman needs a man the way a manatee needs a glockenspiel.” He is married to Jacqui Larsen, a painter. In 2017, he completed a five-year appointment as Utah’s poet laureate. Sometimes he juggles.
Melanie Rae Thon's most recent book, available now, is As If Fire Could Hide Us, a love song in three movements. Her other recent books, chapbooks, and fine art editions include The Voice of the River; Silence & Song; Lover; and The Good Samaritan Speaks.
She is Professor Emeritus at the University of Utah.
