Writers Paisley Rekdal and KirstinScott will read from their works on Wednesday, January 18th at the Salt LakeCity Public Library at 7:00 P.M. as part of the City Art Reading Series. Paisley Rekdal is the author of a book of essays, The Night My Mother MetBruce Lee; a hybrid-genre memoir entitled Intimate; andseveral books of poetry: A Crash of Rhinos, Six Girls Without Pants, TheInvention of the Kaleidoscope, and Animal Eye, which won theUNT Rilke Prize. Her newest book of poems, Imaginary Vessels,is out from Copper Canyon Press, and her latest book of nonfiction, TheBroken Country: On Trauma, A Crime and the Continuing Legacy of the Vietnam War wonthe AWP Nonfiction Prize and will be out in September 2017. Her work hasreceived the Amy Lowell Poetry Traveling Fellowship, a Guggenheim Fellowship,an NEA Fellowship, Pushcart Prizes, the UNT Rilke Award, and inclusion inthe Best American Poetry series. She runs the web historyarchive project, Mapping Salt Lake City. Kirstin Scott is the author of the novel Motherlunge, which won the AWP Prize forthe Novel and was a finalist for the Center for Fiction’s First Novel Prize,the Flaherty-Dunnan Prize. Her short stories haveappeared in Alaska Quarterly Review, Hayden’s Ferry Review, PANK, Sonora Review,Western Humanities Review, and elsewhere. Most featuredreadings are followed by an open reading.
