WritersMike White and Andy Farnsworth will read from their work on Wednesday, December6th at 7:00 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Public Library as part of theCity Art Reading Series and the Utah Humanities Book Festival. This event isfree and open to the public. Mike White has published two collections ofpoems. How to Make a Bird with TwoHands (Word Works, 2012) won the Washington Prize and the just-released Addendumto a Miracle (Waywiser, 2017) was awarded the Anthony Hecht Poetry Prize,with Gjertrud Schnackenberg serving as the contest judge. His poems have appeared in magazinesincluding Ploughshares, Poetry,FIELD, The New Republic, The Iowa Review, The ThreepennyReview, and The Yale Review. You can also find his work on the PoetryDaily and Verse Dailywebsites. He is a graduate of thedoctoral program in Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Utah,and a former editor at Quarterly West. He currently lives in his adopted home, Salt Lake City, and teaches atthe University of Utah. Andy Farnsworth is a comedian, writer,and host of the podcast series “What’s Your Yarn Worth? w/ Andy Farnsworth.” Areviewer once described his performance and writing style as “a fun meltdown”though that has tamed over the years. He earned his MA from Illinois StateUniversity and MFA from the University of Utah, where he is a PhD candidate inLiterature and Creative writing. During his Vice Presidential fellowship,Carole Maso selected him for the 2010 Scowcroft Prize in fiction.
