Patrick Madden and Joshua Rivkin at City Art

            Writers Patrick Madden and Joshua Rivkin will read from their work on March 11th at the Salt Lake City Public Library at 7:00 P.M. as part of the Art Reading Series.  Note, there will not be a reading next week, but there will be four nights in April for National Poetry Month including Joanna Klink on April 1st. 

Patrick Madden’s first book, Quotidiana (University of Nebraska Press, 2010), won book of the year awards from ForeWord Reviews, Independent Publisher, and the Association for Mormon Letters, and his essays have been published widely in journals and anthologies including The Best American Spiritual Writing and The Best Creative Nonfiction. In late 2015, Nebraska will publish his second book, Sublime Physick, and Georgia will publish his edited anthology After Montaigne: Contemporary Essayists Cover the Essays. A two-time Fulbright Fellow to Uruguay, he teaches at Brigham Young University and Vermont College of Fine Arts and curates the online anthology of classical essays at www.quotidiana.org.
 
Joshua Rivkin's poems and essays have appeared in the New Yorker, Virginia Quarterly Review, Slate, Best New Poets, and elsewhere.  He has received a winter fellowship from the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, a Stegner Fellowship in poetry from Stanford and a Fulbright fellowship to Italy.   
 
Most featured readings are followed by an open reading. City Art is sponsored by the Utah Arts Council, the Salt Lake City Arts Council, Catalyst, the Salt Lake City Public Library, Xmission, and the Zoo, Arts, and Park Fund.
