Sincerely, Gail Join The City Library and the Rumi Poetry Club for an afternoon of poetry, music, paintings, and spiritual reflection to celebrate the heritage of Rumi, the Persian master poet and mystic philosopher who lived in the 13th century but whose words and vision still enrich human hearts. Rumi, who was born on September 30, 1207, believed passionately in the use of music, poetry, and dance as a path of spiritual awakening and for expressing the divine within us. Art represents a mystical journey of spiritual ascent through mind and love to the Perfect One. In this journey, the seeker turns towards the truth, transcends the egoistic attachments, matures through love, and arrives at real joy and peace. The seeker then returns from this spiritual journey, with greater humility, compassion, and wisdom of life to love and to be of service to the whole of creation without discrimination with regard to beliefs, races, classes, and nations. In this spirt we ask you to join us for an afternoon of contemplations on Rumi's beautiful poems, along with music and paintings. You have a heart as vast as a sea. Seek with diligence the precious pearls within your depths. Your body is like a seashell. Its open mouth cries: How can I hold sea treasures? I am so small. Look!
