Poet Dave Nielsen and
Jeffery Berke will read and perform from their work on Wednesday, November
9th at the Salt Lake City Public Library at 7:00 P.M. as part of the City Art
Reading Series.
Dave Nielsen’s manuscript, Unfinished Figures, recently won the Blue Lynx
Prize and was published in September. His poems have appeared in Ploughshares,
The Southern Review, North American Review, The Cortland Review, Parnassus,
Cutbank, and elsewhere. He holds a PhD from the University of
Cincinnati and has taught at several colleges and universities, including
Xavier University, Northern Kentucky University, and University of Cincinnati.
He lives in Salt Lake City.
Jeffery Berke is a longtime friend of City
Art. His performances at events around
the city have entertained and moved audiences for over 15 years.
Most featured
readings are followed by an open reading. City Art is sponsored by the Utah
Arts Council, the Salt Lake City Arts Council, Catalyst, the Salt Lake City Public Library, Xmission, and the Zoo,
Arts, and Park Fund.
The
event is free and open to the public.
