Poets Kim Welliver and Lisa Roullard will read from their works on Wednesday February 19th at the Salt Lake City Public Library at 7:00 P.M. as part of the City Art Reading Series. Kim Welliver lives in Utah, where her day job is as a para educator for special needs children. Night a and weekends find Her stealing bits of time to write. Much of Her work explores, and often rewrites, fairytales, and history, with an eye towards loosing the bonds of the girls/women corsetted by gendered roles. Her poetry has won awards, including first place for her, collection of poems Thriving. She has been published in print and online publications, including Rock & Sling, Mid-american Review, Night Picnic, Sidereal, Healing Muse, Corvid Queen, Palette, Duende, Fairy Tale Review, Rust and Moth, and others. Born and raised in Seattle, Lisa Roullard holds an MFA from Eastern Washington University. Her poetry has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and has appeared in various magazines as well as on busses in Boise, Idaho, as part of Poetry in Motion. In 2013 she won the Utah Original Writing Competition for poetry. Her chapbook, An Envelope Waiting, is forthcoming from Finishing Line Press. Lisa enjoys baking, hiking, and traveling, and for the past several years has been trying her hand at writing children’s picture books. She lives in Salt Lake City, Utah, with her family where as often as possible she walks in the rain.
